Domestic Travel Returns For Golden Week
KraneShares Cultural Analyst Xiabing Su takes us on the ground in her hometown of Lanzhou for Golden Week, a week-long holiday centered around China’s National Day, which is similar to the 4th of July or Independence Day. Because this is a seven or eight-day national holiday, it is common for people in China to travel from cities back to their home towns to visit and celebrate with their families. During this week, the Mainland stock exchange is closed for five days. Periods leading up to these holidays sometimes see domestic investors selling stocks to raise money for gifts and travel.
In this video, Xiabing shows us how she spent her Golden Week, traveling home from Shanghai, visiting her grandmother, and eating Lanzhou Lo Mein – the most famous dish from her region.
